This is Sundance’s first year in Boulder, and the excitement is real. It is also, just as it was through all those years in Utah, going to pack the town. Boulder is already booking up fast, and the streets and parking will only get tighter as January nears. Staying a little outside the center is its own reprieve. Soul Medicine Sanctuary is the fist city NE of Boulder and offers the whole lower level of a calm Longmont home, about 20 to 25 minutes from the venues, with plenty of parking, room to spread out, and space to return to yourselves between screenings. An easy drive into it all in the morning, and a quiet place to land at night.
This is a whole-space rental, taken by one group for the festival, not booked room by room. Bring your team, your festival crew, or your people, and make it your home base for the week.
More than a place to rent
There are plenty of walls to rent for the festival….until there’s not. The Soul Medicine Sanctuary is freshly remodeled and has just become available. This is something different than any other space you might find. It is a home with a host who wants your stay to be special. I live here, and your comfort is not an afterthought, it’s something I take pleasure in providing. The space is readied for you with care, there is a person to turn to when you need something, and the small things that make a long festival week feel human are already waiting: warm blankets, good coffee, a soft place to land at the end of a late night. You are tended to here, not just sent a door code.

The space
The whole downstairs is yours. At its heart is the Great Room, warm and open, with a pull-out memory-foam bed. From there, a private room holds a queen bed, and two more rooms hold bunks, each sleeping four, for up to twelve in all. The beds are all brand new, firm with just enough give and made for comfortable rest, each with its own reading light. Two bathrooms are yours, both with heated bidet seats, one with a shower and laundry. And a full kitchen, so your group can keep its own rhythm and its own coffee through a long festival week.
A single shower can be tight for a full house, so for a festival stay like this, a few of your group can also be set up with access to a shower upstairs, arranged with me, so mornings never turn into a queue.
A festival lived together
If the bunks give you pause, think of what they make possible. A festival like this is meant to be lived together, and that is something no scattering of hotel rooms can offer: your whole group under one roof, trading stories over late coffee, talking through the films you loved, staying up after a long day because no one wants it to end. These are the stays people remember years later, for the people they shared them with.
A few things you will not find at a hotel
A hotel gives you a room. This gives you a whole world for the week:
- A wood-burning fireplace: come back from a cold festival day to a real fire in the hearth. There is no better way to thaw out and trade stories.
- A place built to actually reset: the Sanctuary was made for community and rest. Between screenings, sink into weighted blankets and floor cushions, put a singing bowl or the sound system to work, and let the festival adrenaline settle. It may be the only festival house where you can truly decompress.
- A home with soul: this is not a beige rental. It is an artful, intentional space, full of altars, art, and small beauties, a home with a point of view to come back to each night.
- Small delights: a deep tea selection and good coffee, art supplies and journals for a slow morning, and, on a bright winter day, squirrels friendly enough to feed by hand.
January in Colorado can go either way, biting cold or bright and glorious. Whichever it brings, the home stays warm, with cozy corners for the cold days, and when the sun is out, two bikes to borrow for an easy car-free spin.
Screenings, panels, and gatherings in the space
The Great Room can hold more than rest. If your group would like to host a private screening, a workshop, a panel, or a small gathering during your stay, the space is ready for it, with a large screen, Sonos surround sound, and 30+ chairs that can be set up, or use the mats and meditation cushions. This can be arranged as an add-on to your booking, with a fee depending on what you have in mind. Tell me what you are dreaming up and we will shape it together.
Hoping to explore natural medicine while you are here?
You are coming for the festival, but Colorado draws people from all over for something else too: legal, regulated natural medicine. If a psilocybin journey is something you have been curious about, your time here could be the moment for it. As a licensed clinical facilitator under Colorado’s Natural Medicine laws, I can help coordinate a journey in conjunction with a local licensed healing center, held within the state’s regulated framework and separate from your stay.
There are only so many facilitators doing this work, and festival season books out early. I expect to be largely booked for the run, but I am holding a few days open just for my guests, so those staying here have the chance to add this powerful experience to their trip. Book for the full festival
For Sundance, the home is offered as a single whole-house booking for the entire festival, January 21 to 31, 2027, rather than a night here and there. One group takes the space for the full run, so you have an unhurried home base for the whole of it. With the festival newly arrived in Boulder and lodging scarce, a whole hosted home this close is a rare opportunity, and it goes to one group. Reach out to reserve your festival stay.

The whole home: $2,000 a night for the full festival run, plus a $450 cleaning fee. The home sleeps 10-12, so for a full group that comes to $200 or less a person a night, a whole hosted home for less than the price of a single festival hotel room.

- Room to park: On-site parking means you can leave the Boulder parking scramble behind and drive in only when you want to – and carpool with your posse.
- Two bikes to borrow: When a January day turns bright, there are two bikes here for an easy, car-free spins.
- A host, not just a rental: I live here and I am glad to help your stay go smoothly, from local tips to the small things you forgot to pack.
- Home-cooked meals: If you would like to come back to a warm meal after a long day of screenings, I can have meals ready for your group as an add-on, for an additional fee.
- A trusted collaborator on hand: I work with a trusted collaborator who helps with event planning and looks after out-of-state guests, and you are welcome to contract with her directly. She can stock the fridge and pantry with your groceries, lay in firewood for the fireplace, ready the coffee and tea, arrange fresh flowers or a welcome touch, run errands, and make reservations, so the home is warm and waiting when you walk in. Just let me know and I will connect you.
- Support services, coordinated: If your group would like a little nourishment for body and spirit during the week, I or a trusted collaborator can help coordinate offerings like massage, a cacao ceremony, a tea ceremony, a sound bath, or a guided yoga or breathwork session. Tell me what you have in mind and I will help arrange it.
- A shared home: The Sanctuary is the lower level of my home. I live upstairs, along with a housemate and often another airbnb guest. You will come and go through the main door with your own entry code, and pass through a shared foyer. Shoes come off here, where you will find racks; indoor-only shoes are welcome downstairs. From there you head straight down to your space below. Upstairs is my private home and is not part of your stay unless we arrange it together.
- Quiet hours: from 10 at night until 6 in the morning, we ask for a gentle awareness of the sleeping beings in the home above. This does not mean silence, only conscientiousness: softened voices and sound, and a mindfulness that others are resting close by.
- The bunks: for everyone’s safety, the twin bunks are rated to 175 pounds (79 kg) each and the twin-XL bunks to 300 pounds (136 kg) each. If that shapes who sleeps where, we can talk it through.
- Technology: wifi throughout, a large television for screenings and cozy nights, and the everyday things you would want, from phone chargers to a printer.
- Laundry for a long stay: a washer and dryer are located in the main bathroom downstairs with laundry soap provided. There’s another another set at the top of the stairs.
- Caring for the home: the cleaning fee covers basic cleaning, linens and sanitizing the home between stays, readying it fresh for whoever comes next. We ask that you leave things as you found them. When a stay is left needing more than an ordinary reset, an additional cleaning charge of $50 an hour applies. It rarely comes up, and it is only ever about keeping the home cared for.
